Brenda's Pasties instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°..
- Cut up beef and pork into cubes about 1/4" in size..
- Cut potatoes into 1/4" cubes..
- The quantity of potatoes should be about twice the combined amount of meat. Keep cubed potatoes in cold water to keep them from turning brown..
- Cut up the onion, mushrooms and bell peppers into 1/4" pieces also..
- Roll out the pie crust and lay over a 9" pie plate sprayed with cooking spray..
- Add raw pork, beef, and diced vegetables until the pie plate is 1/2 full when crust is folded over..
- Yes, All ingredients are raw at this time! :-).
- Add a couple pats of butter and salt and pepper (and any other seasonings you like) to taste..
- Fold crust over and crimp closed. Cut a few slits in crust to vent during baking..
- Repeat with the rest of the ingredients in the other crust..
- Cover with foil and bake for about 1 hour. Remove foil and bake another 10 minutes to brown crust..
- Remove from oven and serve hot..
- According to my friend that gave me this recipe if you eat with ketchup you are a Yooper and if you eat it with gravy (like me) you are a Troll! LOL!.
- For seasonings I used a fajita seasoning mix that includes garlic powder. You can also add other vegetables if you so desire... I did not..
- Baked pasties may be frozen, unbaked pasties do not freeze well due to the potatoes..
